Mijas is a city that consists of Mijas Pueblo which is a typical Andalusian village and of Mijas Costa which is a modern beach resort. It is the largest municipality in Málaga with 148 km2 of both countryside and beaches. Since Mijas has something for everyone, it is a popular city to live in for foreigners, and they make up a large proportion of the 75 000 people who live there.
Mijas Pueblo is a typical white village that has managed to preserve its old charm and traditions. The center of the village is like a labyrinth with narrow stone streets and whitewashed Andalusian houses. It's fantastic location on the hillside offers incredible views off the coast. Mijas also offers a big waterpark and plenty of world class golf courses. Mijas Costa is a modern resort, much of which has been constructed in the last twenty years. What it lacks in culture and historical buildings, it more than makes up for in an infrastructure designed to cater and it is also perfect for lazy beach days. At Mijas Costa, you can also find a huge selection of different bars and international restaurants.
