Fuengirola is a lively city with about 70,000 inhabitants, a quarter of whom are foreigners. Fuengirola, with its subtropical Mediterranean climate, has a very pleasurable beachwalk that runs along the 10km sandy beach. There are many shops in the center, a new shopping center, cinemas and on Tuesdays the Costa del Sol's largest second-hand market takes place here. You can find a wide range of both Spanish and international restaurants and the nightlife is well worth exploring in the city.
The Moorish castle by the beach has a fantastic view and is a historic monument with several festivals being organized there during the year. Fuengirola Zoo is also a place that attracts a lot of people since it is appointed as one of the best in the world with incredible environments inspired by Africa, Asia and Madagascar.
For sports enthusiasts there are plenty of opportunities to dive, sail and play golf. Fuengirola is all and all an international resort that offers you the best of both worlds - a big city and a seaside resort.
